On Wednesday, December 21, 2016, Bermuda Motors hosted a First Responders Training for the Bermuda Fire Service. With the new wave of electric vehicles sold at Bermuda Motors, General Manager Krishna King thought is imperative to show our first responders how to efficiently and effectively handle the new vehicles in an event of an emergency.
The training, conducted by Bermuda Motors Peter Winsby provided first responders with the knowledge they need to safely handle emergency situations involving EVs, HEVs, and charging stations. The training included information about the newest technology and safety systems found in the growing number of hybrid and electric vehicles on the road.
Without such training, the operators of these vehicles and first responders themselves could be at increased risk. If questions or misconceptions arose about the safety of electric vehicles in emergency situations, the adoption of electric vehicles and ultimately the number of EVs on the road would be hindered.
With the launch of the BMW i3 and other electric and hybrid vehicles sold at Bermuda Motors in 2016, making sure that the training was comprehensive was a top priority for the company, who have certified staff to service and fix the new vehicles.
